Welcome to the essential oil revolution. I'm your host, Samantha Lee right today on our program. We're going to dive deep into a really amazing story of triumph. One of those stories that really encapsulate what this show is about empowerment and education. Our guest today, Amy Stein shares her journey of going from basically bedridden and super skeptical of everything. Essential oils and woo to healthy, vibrant, and fully empowered by the plant world. She shares tons of stories and oily tips. We'll get there in a moment, but first allow me to share my favorite essential oil story from the past week.

I know a lot of you are traveling this summer. And so I wanted to share this story from a friend who will remain anonymous, but it is a story to help those who suffer from airplane anxiety. So if you have a hard time getting on airplanes, then try this recipe out in a capsule, put five drops, frankincense, and two drops. Melissa, fill the rest up with olive oil and use as needed. You can also try it with just the frankincense. I hope that helps you. If you suffer from airplane anxiety, I know it helps my friend out a ton. All right, now let's pull a recipe out of our DIY dugout.

Today's recipe comes from generally para Pocan at essentially dot generally that's J E N a L E. And I hope I'm pronouncing your name right. Generally her recipe is called aunt B gone spray to make the aunt be gone spray in a four ounce glass spray bottle. Fill a quarter of the way with witch Hazel, and then add 10 drops, spearmint and 10 drops, peppermint essential oil. Fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water and then spray to the site twice a day. For three days, she calls this ant be gone spray and not ant killer spray because it doesn't actually kill the ants, but rather redirects their path. I've used this and it truly works to get rid of ants.

I V so something kind of dorky and awesome about me is I just started getting really into pickle ball. You've probably heard of it. It's sort of the up and coming new sport, and it's so much fun, but I will go. I'll spend like three hours in the gym on pickleball days, just playing. It's so much fun. And I go through a lot of water. It's really hard to stay hydrated, especially when you don't want to take these long breaks, chucking down water.

Welcome Amy to the show. How are you?

5m 10s

4

Hi, Samantha. Thanks for having me. I'm so excited to be

5m 12s

0

Here. I'm super excited for you to be here too. We have never met, and I can't believe it because we're just a meshed in this world together. And I've always, you know, it's kind of this small little family of essential oil nerds on the internet, right? And so when I come across someone new, I'm like, oh yeah, we haven't met. I'm so excited. So I wanted to start, if you wouldn't mind sharing, just sort of your journey of how essential oils became a part of your life to begin with.

5m 41s

4

Yeah. So my journey is a long one. So essential oils were the first line of defense of outside the normal medicine track that I was introduced to on my healing journey. So I have suffered from auto-immune disease for way too many years to count. And it got to the where it's debilitating about 11 years ago,

6m 2s

0

Auto-immune disorder.

6m 4s

4

I basically had all like, yeah, like I'll just say all of them because I, so I live in New York and you know, Manhattan has been an hour away from train and we went into Manhattan and basically every doctor I saw called me something different. So it was really frustrating because I did not fit into the boxes of each disease as nice as they would like, right. So like I had attributes of lupus, but I didn't have all of them. I had attributes of RA, but I didn't have all of them. I had attributes of fibromyalgia of, you know, you, you think of how she mode was any of them, right? Lyme. I had all of them, but no one could put the pieces together.

6m 44s

0

Oh, that's so frustrating. I mean, it can be, it could be a great comfort to have a diagnosis. And when we talk about this later on in the show, a lot about having that diagnosis can be a bit of a comfort, right. But we're not always given that. And so jumping forward, cause I know your story is a long one. You had been kind of spiraling down, no clear vision, no clear diagnosis, no one practitioner that's really giving you much to go on your knee started really deteriorating. And that forced you to really stop working, get surgery on it, which then sort of spiraled you down even further to where you ended up being bedridden.

7m 27s

0

And you, as a young, you were newly married, you'd bought a new house. You were, you know, had a thriving career. And all of this sort of came crashing down to the point where you could, you could just barely get out of bed. Eventually you were referred by your aunt to an essential oil distributor. And I know you're a very skeptical at first you're a very science driven person. You were thinking no way, whew, what happened from there?

7m 57s

4

They didn't really know how to help me. Right? Because a lot of times people are taught like use this oil for this issue, right? If you have headache, use peppermint, if you have anxiety use lavender. So when you do that and it doesn't work, they don't know what to do. And so I had to start doing my own research, which is, which was my first foray into plant medicine was how can I use these things that have science behind them to help heal with the, some of the things that I'm contending with some of the issues. It was also the point when I realized that what I put on my body is just as important as what I put into my body. So at the same point, I was still going to all these doctors because I still believe that they could fix me.

8m 41s

4

And I was looking outside of myself, but I was making the changes in beauty products and cleaning products in what I put into my body. I was changing my diet radically. They thought I was crazy. All the doctors were like, that's unnecessary. You don't need to do that. And I said, but do you see the science behind? What's all, you know, what's in deodorant, what's in chemical, you know, the chemicals in the laundry detergent, all this stuff. And they thought I was crazy. And I was like, I'm going to keep doing it. So why not being affordable? So you use the essential oils to make my own products, right? So then I started making all of my own beauty products, all of my own home and cleaning products. And I started to use the oils for a lot of different uses. And I was like, oh, this, this stuff works. And then when it got to the point where I had used the oils and I still needed something else, I was kind of like, well now what?

9m 28s

4

And the people that had sold me, the oils, they didn't have the knowledge. And then I had to figure it out myself. And at that point I was extremely ill. So even though I had made the changes, I was exhausted. I couldn't get out of bed. The pain was unrelenting and I wasn't sleeping. I wasn't being believed around me by the doctors, by my family. Nobody knew what to do for me. It was very frustrating. It was very scary. And at that point I was using the oils just to get through like the anxiety and to calm me down so that I could get through the day. Right. So like, or I would use the oils to energize myself a little bit.

10m 11s

4

Okay. I got 10 minutes right now of energy. What is the most important thing I need to do? Okay. Let's make sure that I have food I could eat. Right. So I was using it in that way, but I wasn't using them for their full potential. I still didn't understand. Again. I just knew like, oh, if I did this at work, but I didn't understand why it worked. So being the science background, I was like, I need to understand this more. So at my sickest, I couldn't really do a lot. Right. So I was in bed. So I listened to a lot of podcasts. And this was before like summits were really big. So, you know, 10, 11 years ago, not everyone had a podcast, not everyone was on a summit. So it was few and far between with the people that I were listening to, they were saying things that all the other doctors weren't saying, and I was like, oh, this is interesting.

10m 52s

4

And some of them had books. So I would read their books. And you know, the brain fog was really bad, but I would have moments where I could understand it or I would just get what I needed from it. Right. And then they would then refer someone else out. Then I would listen to them. I would understand the information. So then it got to the point where the doctor that had been treating me at that point felt really threatened by my me doing my own research. He did not like it. He felt like he knew the better cause he went to medical school. He did not trust my body was saying like all the things that I, you know, I was a very compliant patient. I did exactly what the doctors told me to do. And I did not get better. If anything, I got a lot sicker. I got a lot worse because it wasn't listening to my body. And I didn't understand that.

11m 33s

4

Right. I didn't have a higher power. I wasn't spiritual person. I was very science-based. So if I couldn't see it, it didn't exist. Right. I didn't understand energy. I didn't understand why certain people made me feel a certain way. I didn't understand why I didn't want to be in crowds. Like none of it, no one talks about trauma. No, one's talked about, you know, being empathic, being highly sensitive person. No one talked about that. And the irony is that Dr. Lane, Erin is the spouse of, of the research that I worked for his undergrad. And I had no idea that the research she was doing was about highly sensitive people and empathic people and how she was using the energy medicine, plant medicine, to bring people back where they could survive into this noisy world.

12m 18s

4

So it kind of came full circle in that all of the universe started showing me like, Hey, all this stuff is related. So I guess I had, by that point, been using the oils for five years, I fired all the doctors. And I thought, I'm just going to sit with this and something's going to come out of this. Like there, there's going to be a way out of this, as much as I'm demoralized, as much as I'm frustrated, as much as I feel, I don't know where to turn. I don't know what to do. And no one is helping me. I want off this merry-go-round it gets not a way to live. There were points that I, I did want to not go on. And I had experienced in college as a crisis support and suicide prevention, hotline, counselor.

13m 1s

4

And so I knew all of the things that I was supposed to be doing, but the people that I was seeing that traditionally trained people were not helping me. If anything, they were making it worse because they wanted me to listen to them rather than to listen to my own body. So this is going to sound woo. And if you would've told me, I would've thought this years ago, I would've said there no way the plants started to speak to me. So certain oils I'd be called to and I would just start using them. I didn't know what they were supposed to be used for. I would just start using them and things would get better. And then I started, I found an old herbalists book of my grams and she had passed and I would talk to her and be like, I don't know what to do.

13m 46s

4

I need you to help me. You know, like again, I didn't believe in any of this stuff outside of me. And if the energy and the spirit, I didn't have any of that. And I always thought surrender was a dirty word because it meant giving up. And then I didn't have it within me to fix it. Right. I couldn't fix my situation. And the more self-help, if you want to say books, I read the more people I started listening to you and in the energy realm and the spiritual round at first, it sounded really cooky to me. And I was like, there's no way, like, this is just, no, I don't think so. And you know, everyone kind of has a similar message, but they all say it a little bit differently.

14m 27s

4

And so I found some people that I resonated with and I read their books and I was, I started to practice some of the techniques that they presented and some of it fit and some of it didn't right. So you take what works and you leave the rest. And so I didn't understand that at that point. So I was just trying to do it all. So it was magnetic healing, right? So I did brain retraining, neuroplasticity. I did EMDR, but my therapist didn't have the skills. I had more skills than she did. I had more knowledge in her. And so it didn't work and it wound up creating more trauma. I was doing hardcore Kundalini yoga at that time. And all of the Kundalini masters were telling me I wasn't practicing enough. I was doing a two hour practice a day.

15m 8s

4

So nobody knows that that is, it's a, it's a very intense form of yoga. And it involves a lot of breath work, but it's in very, it can be a very traumatic response to the system. And if you're already in a weakened, energetic state, because you're dealing with so much trauma, that's repressed, or you're dealing with a lot of illness, it actually causes more stress in the system. And I didn't know, I was doing myself a disservice, right? Because I was just trying all these things to see what fit, which one felt good. I was still had my oils, but the plants, I started realizing that I could use the plants in different ways in addition to the oils, right? So I started learning how to, I started fermenting my own food first.

15m 48s

4

Then I started making my own kombucha. And then I started learning how to make tinctures. Cause it was a lot cheaper to make it yourself. Cause if you buy an one ounce, tincture could be $40, but I could buy the organic bulk herbs or I could grow them myself because it was a gardener to always been a gardener and I could ha harvest my own and I just needed to tincture it. Right? So a tincture is that you take plant medium. So whether that's dry or fresh, it's typically dry with some plants. You do need to do a fresh tincture. And it sits in alcohol for four to six weeks in the dark. And the alcohol takes out the energy, the constitution from the plant.

16m 31s

4

So the energy medicine comes out from the plants. The alcohol draws it out. You could do an apple cider vinegar. You can do a glycerol, but the app, the alcohol is the most beneficial in taking out the medicine from the plants. So I started doing that. My husband was like, you are crazy. Like what is going on? You're like a mad scientist, like all of this stuff,

16m 50s

0

Because it was he similar to you. And the way that you very scientifically driven, very like this is just way she's like

16m 58s

4

The plants are talking to you. Like what? Like what's runs where they have you on like, no, he still says that to this day. Like, oh my God, you're crazy. So, so I started then learning more, right? So the universe directed me. This is when I started to believing like, oh, there was something bigger than me. The universe was start directing me to different summits. So the, rather than listening to functional practitioners, I was listening to herbalists. I was listening to shamans. I was listening to energetic medicine practitioners. Right? And so they were talking about, it's not just the body, there's some mind body spirit. And when you use the plants as medicine, you tap into that.

17m 39s

4

And that was like mind blown for me. I was like, oh my goodness. That's crazy that just by using the plants that I could tap into this awareness, I can tap into this, this inner knowing and you know, energetic medicine, practitioners and myself. We believe that there's an innate intelligence in the body. Just like there's an innate intelligence and mother nature. So people will tell me things they're dealing with. I'm like, look outside the weeds that are growing. I'm probably sh I will bet you any amount of money. That those are the things that you need. Because mother nature has a funny way of providing for us. We just don't pay attention to it. So when I started paying attention to the weeds that were growing in the yard and we don't use any chemicals and my husband was upset cause he wanted to pull all the weeds and I'm like, that's medicine, don't pull those that's food.

18m 25s

4

Like I can use that. So then I started making infused oils. I started making more tinctures with what was growing around me because I thought, well, it's here for a reason. There's obviously. And then when I wasn't even doing, I didn't research what any of the things were for. Right. I just gathered them. I looked them up. I got some local foraging books. I, I just listened to what the plants were telling me. They kept telling me like, pick me, use me. And I was like, okay, I'm going to go with this because it wasn't necessarily the plants. It was my intuition connected with mother nature. That was saying, this is the way to go keep doing this. You're on the right track. And when I listened to that, I got better. And when I started connecting the mind body spirit, I got even better because a lot of the times the healing that is introduced to us even by functional doctors is all in the mind.

19m 14s

4

They ignore the body. They'll say, oh, you have these symptoms change your diet. Right. But it's, it's this for me, my experience, it was a hard, it's hard. And no one tells you how to do it. Right. So I, I had to figure it all out on my own. I had to learn all this stuff and yeah, so I was a researcher. So I could read journals. I could read all these books. I could understand a lot more than the normal leap person, but it was still really frustrating when I didn't feel good. There was no one for me to turn to and go. Now, what now? What do I do? What's next? I tried this. It didn't work. Right? So when I started to incorporate and be more gentle with myself and have more grace and forgive my body rather than being mad at my body for failing me and realize it didn't fail me, it was turned out all along.

19m 60s

4

It just wasn't listening. So I really think that's a really important point that people that are listening to this need to understand that your body never fails you. Okay. So I was near death. I was 85 pounds. I couldn't gain weight for four years. I couldn't keep anything down. I was in the bathroom all day. I couldn't leave my house. I had shut everybody out. I'd become completely isolated. Cause I felt like I had nothing to offer to anybody. And it was a really, really hard time in my life. And it was a struggle in my marriage. Like without a doubt, my marriage, I don't know how we survived. So we'll be married 11 years. And I've been going through this, our entire marriage. So my husband married somebody who was completely different than the person I am now.

20m 40s

4

And that's also a struggle, right? Because we've changed and we haven't changed together. And so he thinks that some of the stuff I do is really crazy. He thinks like, oh, she's taken out our angel deck cards. She's howling at the moon. She's putting her water out to be, you know, infuse the magic of the full moon. You know, I'm talking out there, people about plant medicine, I'm telling them to go eat their weeds. He's like, you're crazy. But, and this is something a healer had told me who had introduced me to the oils initially, you know, 11, 12 years ago that when you shift your energy to the situation, to the relationship, to the dynamics, the illness, whatever it is, this energy of that will shift as well.

21m 31s

4

And I did not believe them. And I thought, you're just trying to make me feel better. And it's not making me feel better in the right now, but it's true. So my husband, like I'm his doctor. I treat him with homeopathy and urbalism and essential oils. And you know, he still thinks it's crazy, but he sees that it works. And so it's a little less crazy to him. Right. And if it doesn't work, it's usually because he's not compliant and then he'll get upset. And I'm like, but you didn't, you know, where you compliant, did you, did you do what I told you to do? So like there's, there's this mindfulness around it. That when we respect the plants for what they offer and respect the gifts that mother nature provides for us, so many opportunities open up, there's so much that can change and shifts.

22m 21s

4

Like I would never have thought if you would have told me 10 years ago, you're going to use the plants to heal yourself. I would've laughed. Laughed because to me, I didn't think there was any science to it. Right? And then once I started delving into it, probably five, six years ago, you know, plants have been used to heal people for thousands of years. Regular Western medicine is laying around like 300 years, 350 years. So to me, I couldn't deny that even though it was foreign to me and I thought it doesn't come in a, you know, an orange bottle, that must be it's bad. I can't get it. You know, you can get homeopathics at whole foods.

23m 2s

4

You can get them at CVS. And homeopathic is just, you take a constitution of either a plants and animals, something that comes from the earth and it is heavily diluted to different ratios, I guess is the best way to explain it. It's probably not. But, and then you're taking a minute amount of that substance, but because like the plants, it's energetically recognized by your body and your body can work with it. And it works to reorganize and rebalance the energy of the body and to restore the systems, regular medicine doesn't do that.

23m 42s

4

So it all started for me with oils. And then the journey went and I became an herbalist and then I practice energy medicine for myself. And then I started educating other people on it. And then I had been doing breathwork with Kundalini and it was really forceful and not great. And my body would feel great when I was doing it because I was escaping out of my body. But then my body would slam me back down to reality a week later. And I wouldn't be able to get out of bed.

24m 11s

0

I mean, I told you, like, you're not, you're not dealing with the right things right now. Yeah.

24m 14s

4

You're not in your body. If you're not in your body, you're not going to heal. And I didn't understand that because there wasn't embodying that aspect of it. So I just thought I'm doing all the things again, it was a manic healing. I'm doing all the things. Why is it not working? Why is nothing

24m 28s

0

It's such a Western view. I've got my checklist. I'm going down the list here. But it really does. You've said this several times, but a lot of times it really comes back to, you have to listen to your body and we are not taught how to do that. And we're actually taught kind of the opposite. We're taught a lot of the times to ignore it and turn that, turn that switch off. And partly that's the defense mechanism, right? Because we live in a pretty harsh world. Like it's a, it's a harsh reality of there's so much beauty in the world, but there's also a lot of really messed up things happening. Right. And, and so we kind of have to tune that out sometimes, but you know, I think that your story really illustrates one of the tenants of this show, which is empowerment and education.

25m 14s

0

They go hand in hand. Right? And so part of me is kind of grateful that you didn't find your, your mentor, your guide, your person that was telling you like, Hey, do this and then do this and then do this. Right. And providing you the energy work and, and making your teachers for you. Right. Because not that there's anything wrong with that, but for you in particular, I feel like you needed to discover those things on your own. You needed to have that empowerment to make that mind, body healing connection. And I think for a lot of listeners that, you know, they might not want to hear this, but you can't be passive in your healing journey because it's yours and nobody else's.

25m 57s

4

So basically what works for me, doesn't always work for everybody, right? So it's like this, not this one stop approach. And that's, I think what the problem is is that even though the functional practitioner that I work with now, I do all my own research and I go, this is what we're going to do. And then she uses it with everybody else. Right. But I wasn't responding to any of the ideas that she had. So I kept coming back to the plants. So then I started, I said, I made the infused oils with the things I was growing, the plants that I was growing. And I started adding essential wheels to them. And I, it wasn't, again, I wasn't doing the research of this plant will help with headaches. This plant will help with, you know, some geeks, it was more of the plants were telling me, put me with this plant, put me together, this essential oil and combine it.

26m 45s

4

So I started making these bombs and I was giving them for Christmas and people like these are great. Like these are awesome. And because I was combining more than one plant is similar to the idea of essential oil blend, right. Is that one of those plants in the oil blend is going to help you? Maybe not all of them, maybe not one by itself, but the blend has so much power, so much more power.

27m 8s

0

And

27m 9s

4

So Yes, yes, yes. So a bomb is the essential oils that are infused with views, herbal oils and beeswax. So you can infuse plants into like organic olive oil. Is that what I use? Because I find it's the best carrier, but people do sunflower oil and out there, but I don't like to use some of those or GMO and stuff. So I'm really, I'm really particular again, what I put in, in, on my body. So you would infuse plants and make an infused oil. You can do it quickly. If you wanted to do an enemy Crock-Pot or you can have it sit out in the sun for four to six weeks, just like a tincture, but it's finished.

27m 56s

4

It goes in the dark and the oil pulls the medicinal components out of the plants. And then you, you would strain it just like a tincture. And then the liquid is your medicine, right? So that the tincture is the medicine. You would take drops the infused oil. You can use this as an oil, but I typically like to use it as a bomb. So if I was having, I was having a lot of burning nerve pain. So I would mix St. John's wort. I had some Laurel leaf essential oil. I had some violets that I was growing. And so it was just, my intuition was getting heightened as I was doing this work. And it kept with the plants, but it got stronger.

28m 40s

4

And then I was making all these recipes, the tinctures, these ox miles, which XML is just apple cider, vinegar, plants, and honey. And I was giving them some people for Christmas holidays and birthdays, and they loved it. And they were like, this is

28m 58s

0

Fun.

28m 59s

4

And I was like, oh, I just made them for myself because it was helping. But I didn't realize that what I was dealing with, like I was having a lot of lymph drainage issues. So I was taking all of the things that grow in the spring. They're all supportive of lymph, cleavers, dandelion, violet, all these things. I was just infusing them into these concoctions, right. Again, my husband was like, what concoction are you making now? But they were helping. And then with the essential oils, it has that added additional medicine. And that added additional potency because essential oils are just still differently, right? So you're still enough to get into central oil where you're infusing to get infused oil. So you get different parts from the plants in a different that you too.

29m 43s

4

So you're going to get different constitutional parts of the plant. When you distill an oil for an essential bill, you're going to get different parts of the constitutional plan when you make an infused oil. So the synergy of combining that you're getting more medicine, which is great, and people didn't realize that I, I didn't realize it at first until I started doing research after the fact, cause I was like, why is this working? Why is it working so well, I didn't do any research on it. I just knew that, okay, this is a <inaudible>, you know, there, the way that plants are constitution out is that they corresponded different body parts, right? So they may, and they might have a giant effects. They might have a moistening effects.

30m 24s

4

There's all those different. I won't get into other balloons and talk about it. But basically, you know, when you understand the constitution of a plant and how a plant works, you're better able to use that plant for specific ailments. So you can use essential oils for so many different things. So I had to fuse them every day. I pretty much diffuse the every day because we live on an island. So it was always really humid. And I want to prevent mold growth. And I will diffuse today. I diffused citrus and peppermint to uplift the mood, right, to keep my brain active. So I could have this interview. And I use them in my every day routine and my deodorant, my personal care products and my cleaning supplies in my laundry detergent.

31m 9s

4

I use them frequently still because they work and the energetics of the plants have not let me down. There's a lot. I mean, the plants never cease to amaze me. I'm always learning something new. You will never know everything that one plant can do. Like you will constantly be learning. And I think that's amazing because what else can you say that about

31m 35s

0

Amy? You are someone that has this beautiful relationship with not just essential oils, but really the entire plant world, which I'm always reminding people. Essential oils are just a subset of the plant world. They're a form of the plant world. And one that I, it's very easy to form a relationship with the plant world that way. But I always get very excited when I meet someone like you, who really started out with this, you know, kind of four, eight foray into essential oils. That's very skeptical. I don't know about this. And you know, but it kind of got your foot in the door a little bit of, oh, there's this whole other world. Right. And then, and then you took that and you, you ran with it.

32m 15s

0

You know, you ran with it far. And, and to the point now where you're giving back in that world and you're helping other people to really connect, it's more, it's more than just helping people make good health choices. It's really, you're helping people really connect to themselves and to this beautiful, beautiful planet that we are all so lucky that we get to live and connect with this plant world. That's been with us from the beginning. And it's, it's a beautiful thing to beautiful thing. So this has been so exciting and congratulations about your own personal health journey. It sounds like you're doing great. And I'm so happy for you.

32m 56s

0

This has been wonderful. But before you go, we always need to ask our guests these closing questions. So the first is what's just one or two self-care practices that you try to do every day to stay healthy.

33m 9s

4

I get outside every single day, every single day. I mean, it won't be 20 degrees here. I'll take the dog to the park because when I don't get outside, I feel a big difference. And that coincides with moving my body every day and that can look different every day. You know, that could be a walk in the park that could be a walk on the beach that could be doing a daily, energetic, cleansing routine that could do a breathwork. I mean, in some way, I'm connecting in my body and I'm moving in a way that it responds, right? Because your body will tell you if you're standing for too long, it will say, you need to move. If you're sitting for too long, it will tell you you need to move and we don't listen to it.

33m 52s

4

And then we have all of these aches and pains and they can then progress to, you know, more substantial issues. So my suggestion to people is always take it outside, breathe, fresh air, right? Take five deep breaths, maybe close your eyes, maybe feel the sun on you. Maybe feel the rain and to move your body in any way that it wants. And it doesn't, you don't have to do a yoga practice. You could just do whatever feels good. You could just dance,

34m 21s

0

Just flop around. Yeah. You

34m 22s

4

Could shake it out. You can dance, you can play with your kids, right? Whatever, whatever that is, whatever that, and it could be different every day. So permission to do something different every day. And that's okay.

34m 34s

0

I love that. I love that. Well, finally, what's just one thing we should all ditch completely and replace with something healthier today.

34m 41s

4

Oh my God. Chemicals chemicals are in everything. Especially the personal care products and what you used to clean the house. Especially if you have children or pets, like you, you really need to learn how to read labels and see what you're using. And that you are absorbing that your skin is your largest organ. So just being mindful, like the essential oils are my first step into changing. What I put on my bodies. I'm really, really, really particular about what I put on any of my body. So that would be my one. I tell people that like, if that's the one change you're going to make do that. Cause I think women, I think it's like 250 products of chemicals. Different chemicals are put on before you leave the house to go to work.

35m 23s

4

If you leave the house to go to work, right? It's like 250 chemicals between personal care products, cleaning products, you know, all of this stuff, the chemicals in your clothes, all of that. So that would be my one suggestion because we live in such a toxic world as it is. And the body is trying to rebalance all the time. You're not doing any favors when you're ingesting and putting on more toxins.

35m 51s

0

Exactly. And in an industry that the least regulated industry, not that I'm a huge fan of like over-regulation, but specifically with the cosmetic industry, it is the least regulated when they really big, big companies do not care what their,

36m 5s

4

No, it's all about profits and it can go the environmental working group and you can look there and it will, it will rate the products. You're using it to tell you how toxic it is. And then you can find suggestions. I mean, it's just

36m 19s

0

All about empowerment. That's really what it always

36m 21s

4

Comes because an education, you know, like you can always be learning. You don't have to go to school. You know, you go find people in your community that, that have been through this. I'm not unique. Right? I have a different perspective on it. Maybe I do have unique gifts to give, but I'm not unique in my experience. Then we're going to find more people like me cut me out. You know, it just happened quicker to me than other people, but you can do things. You have control to change some things and you can, you can empower yourself to make those changes.

36m 54s

Amy Stein, this has been wonderful. Let's tell the people how they can get in touch with you if they want to be more part of your world.

37m 1s

Great. So currently right now I have a Facebook page. It's Amy, the amateur herbalist. They can ask to join that. I put a lot of free information on there. There's a lot of gardening information, but there's a lot of just mind, body spirit as well. And once they're in that group, they can Dan me and they can get a free 10 minute mind, body spirit session.
